Mandie Roman shares her inspiration for GeekyGlamorous, a shop celebrating gaming culture in the San Fernando Valley, along with her top local spots.
What inspired you to open GeekyGlamorous?
I'm a huge fan of video games and collecting.
My previous lives had me developing products for entertainment IP holders and later hosting in the gaming/esports space.
All roads were leading me toward opening my own shop where I could bring the worlds of gaming and merchandise together.

GeekyGlamorous offers unique geek fashion and collectibles.
What do you love most about running the shop?
I love the video game industry and meeting other fans. I wanted to create a permanent space for gamers to gather outside of conventions or events.
My goal was, and still is, to offer a safe, inviting place for gamers of all types to celebrate their fandom and find unique merchandise.
Why the San Fernando Valley?
The San Fernando Valley has a pretty large geek audience with tons of nerdy shops, eateries, and the like.
We're also in close proximity to a lot of entertainment studios where a lot of my customers happen to work!
We also happen to be one of the last remaining neighborhoods with pretty ample free street parking, so that's helpful too. (Hope I didn't jinx it...)
Mandie's Top 5 Spots in the Valley:
- Guildhall โ My fave nerd bar. Excellent food, drinks (ask for the Tonberryโit's off the menu but just ask!) and a robust assortment of tabletop games to play.
- Buffalo Exchange โ Selection of curated, second-hand clothing and accessories. You can buy or sell here. I'm big on keeping things circular so love this spot.
- Mr Pizza โ My fave spot for a custom pie in the valley. They have vegan and gluten-free options!
- Creme Caramel โ Delightful coffee and pastry shop with super nice staff. Also just down the street from GG!
- Geeky Teas & Games โ The tabletop gaming mecca of the SFV. Incredible space with tons of tables and private rooms for any type of board game or campaign you're looking to run. They also run cat adoptions and have some resident kitties on site.

Buffalo Exchange buys, sells, and trades secondhand clothing.
